STRICKLAND, GOMERY JR. "Buddy"

Buddy Strickland was born on February 17, 1949, in Whiteville, North Carolina. He passed away on December 21, 2024, in Hillsborough County, Florida.

A beloved vendor at the Tennessee State Fair since the early 1980s, Buddy was one of the first to sign up for The Nashville Fair. He was renowned for his delicious funnel cakes and was the exclusive vendor of the famous Deep Fried Goo Goo.

Buddy's passion and dedication to his craft left a lasting impression on the fair community. His daughter, Contessa, continues to keep the family tradition alive, sharing his love and legacy with new generations.

His warmth, talent, and spirit will be dearly missed but forever remembered.

BILLY WAYMON STEPHENS

Billy Waymon Stephens, Sr. was born on June 13, 1941, to the late Casto and Alene (Dodson) Stephens in Wilder, Tennessee. He passed away on December 29, 2024, in the Woodbine community of Nashville, Tennessee.

Bill dedicated many years of his life working at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway and the Tennessee State Fair. His unwavering support and service earned him the Hale Moss Distinguished Service Award in 2019, honoring his commitment to the community and the fair.

A true supporter of The Nashville Fair, Bill’s stories and memories will be cherished by all who knew him, especially the staff who appreciated his dedication and warmth.

His legacy of service and passion will be fondly remembered and forever appreciated.
